Representatives of technical cooperation agencies, ministries of agriculture and centers of excellence from Algeria, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Sudan, Tunis, Turkey, and Uzbekistan gathered to exchange knowledge and views on successful home-grown solutions and models in the area of livestock to combat poverty and to enhance food security. |
The Training Workshop was hosted by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Livestock of the Republic of Turkey through its International Agricultural Research & Training Center, in cooperation with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordinarion Agency (TIKA), and with support of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC).

In Menemen, Izmir (Turkey) on 22-24 July, 2015, the first Knowledge Exchange and Coordination Workshop was hosted by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Livestock of the Republic of Turkey through its International Agricultural Research and Training Center.

Essentially, the main focus will be on further advancing the South-South Cooperation among the countries of the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and Central Asia and beyond, through identification, pilot-testing, and documentation of successful models and approaches that will be ready for replication within the regions. Overall, by facilitating knowledge and technology exchange through South-South Cooperation in the long term, the work supported under this initiative will contribute to addressing the challenge of increasing food security in the participating countries, as well as rural poverty reduction.
